GREAT BOAT, GREAT DEAL FOR THE RIGHT BUYER. This is a great all-around package priced well for just the right buyer. Well-equipped vessel with new power, she is is a whole lot of boat for the money. She just needs someone comfortable with repairing or providing an outdrive. Otherwise, Grand Slam is in great shape! Later known as the Ciera Classic, this 28-foot sportfisher cruiser is a style of boat that is in high demand in the Pacific Northwest. The engineers at Bayliner should be proud; they did a great job with this model.

The interior space of Grand Slam starts with its fully enclosed raised helm with a fabulous 360 degree view. The helm has a nice cushioned pilots chair with a little room to stand in front of it if you want. To the port of the helm is a wide seat for two adults or three kids with a removable table set in between the captain and guests. The instrument panel and dash have plenty of room to mount any extra gadgets you may want to install. When you step through the walkthrough and down into the main cabin, the first thing you ll notice is all the windows; there s definitely no feeling of being in a cave. Many reviews of this vessel suggest this model has more space than any other in its class and you ll likely feel the same way when you step inside. To the port side is the surprisingly roomy mid-berth double berth that really sets this vessel apart. Large enough for two people, it tucks under the floor of the helm level with enough headroom to sit up. This berth and a nearby hanging locker and small standing area are closed off by a privacy door. To the starboard side is the standup head with privacy door, storage cubby and ample counter space and hot and cold pressure water. The sink faucet pulls out to shower with and the floor is the shower pan. Adjacent to the head is the functional galley, which has storage cabinets aplenty, as well as a single deep stainless sink, a microwave and an alcohol stove. The cabinetry is done in a crisp nautical white material that really brightens the area and has been kept nice and clean. Across the way, below one bench seat of the portside convertible dinette, is a small Norcold refrigerator. Storage is under the other bench. The dinette comfortably seats four and is a great place to ride and still view the surroundings. It transforms into a sleeping area for two at night. In the bow is a humongous v-berth that is probably one of the largest you ll find. It s perfect for two adults (maybe even three adults!) or a gaggle of kids. A privacy curtain sections the v-berth off from the rest of the main cabin. Window coverings are available for all the windows then you need nighttime privacy and there are numerous unique storage cubbies all throughout her interior. A forced air diesel furnace warms the entire cabin. In all, Grand Slam is a great overnight fit for 5-6 folks.

 On Deck:
The back deck is the perfect size for fishing, sun bathing, or stretching out a few chairs. The nice thing about Grand Slam s cockpit is its full canvass cover that gives some shelter from the elements, but is easy to remove. It s also the only canvass, so there s not much to have to maintain. The gunnels are nice and high that make you feel secure when fighting a big fish. The engine is accessed by a large hatch in the floor of the cockpit. The engine room is well laid out with plenty of room and very clean. You won't get a cramped feeling when you have to do maintenance. There s plenty of room on either side of the engine to install extra batteries or whatever else you might think of. All of the pumps and wiring runs are easily accessible without taking anything apart. This makes repairs or additions a breeze.

 Engine and Mechanical:
Grand Slam has new power and more horses than you ll find on other 2859s. A new 375 horsepower gas Mercruiser 8.1 L was added in 2007 and kicks her up to a cruising speed of 24 knots at 3,500 rpm and only has 198 hours on it. Her aluminum fuel tanks hold a total of 137 gallons of fuel and she burns 20 gallons per hour and has digital and analog meters for fuel flow metering. A 2010 9.9 horsepower Yamaha electric start kicker comes with Grand Slam and has remote control at the help and power trim/tilt.

 Electrical and Electronics:
Grand Slam has a single fantastic helm that is out of the weather and has everything you need for fun and for safety. Enjoy a Standard Horizon CP300 GPS chart plotter, a Standard Horizon VHF, Hummingbird 535 depth sounder, electric wipers and a 12 volt defroster fan. For entertainment, kick on the Panasonic AM/FM CD stereo system and listen to your favorite music on Jensen speakers.

 Notes and Extras:
The 28-foot Bayliner Super Classic (Ciera Classic) is a practical multipurpose vessel that is well suited to family cruising and fishing. Her deep cockpit, transom door and swim platform for ease of access for pets and passengers provides an extra measure for the safety of small children. Escape on Grand Slam for the day or for the weekend with your adult friends and as many kids and you can muster. If you don t mind taking on a minor mechanical project, this could be a great investment for you. Call us today and we ll show her off to you!
