Sailing Vessel (SV) Rain is a well-known Bruce Robert's design 42 steel pilothouse sailboat that was professionally built by Pacific Ocean Enterprises in Washington so she could explore the Alaskan waters and beyond. Could this be your next boat for the for the Northwest Passage?

 Interior:
Unlike many expedition quality sail boats that require you to crawl down steps that resemble a submarine ladder Rain provides a civilized access with three normal steps to her pilot house. As you step inside, you immediately wonder if you are in a steel boat as you take in the elegance of her custom white oak interior and the incredible views provided by her reinforced pilot house windows. You will find she is well laid out for a couple and filled with the comforts for excellent livability both long passages, or on the hook. To starboard you have a well-equipped galley that features a properly gimbaled Force Ten Marine Propane three burner stove with broiler, a super insulated Sea Freeze SF 900 12 Volt Refrigerator and Freezer for lots of cold storage and the luxury of twin sinks. To port you have a comfortable dining table with bolster cushions just aft of the well laid out inside helm. This is great layout to enjoy long watches together. A Dickinson Alaskan Diesel Heater, the sailor s fireplace, keeps her warm and dry. She offers comfortable sleeping quarters designed for safety on long passages and a lounging couch for relaxing. For your personal needs, the head has a separate enclosed shower room. Unlike many other sailboats, you will be able to indulge in the luxury of a long hot showers with her 100 gallons of fresh water stored in 3 separate tanks and a 20 gph Aqua Marine engine driven water maker. Hot water is provided by both AC or engine diversion. Her fresh water systems even allow you to take advantage of her Hairier Clothes washer. During long passages there is nothing more unpleasant than head odors or the frustration of a broken toilet. This will never be a problem with Rain because she is equipped with the bullet proof operation of an Airhead composting toilet.

 On Deck:
Rain is not only an esthetically beautiful vessel but her well-designed deck provides a safe working area. Side decks are wide and have the extra security of welded in hand holds and safety railing. The raised cockpit with fully equipped helm is comfortable and provides good visibility over the pilot house. She is outfitted with the well regarded Lefiell Mast and Boom system with all internal tracks and the mast is equipped with steps for easy access to the top. Her deep 6 8 keel provides for controlled healing and a comfortable ride for the crew.

 Engine and Mechanical:
Her mechanicals are strong and accessible. Her power plant is a Perkins 4-108 that sips only .5 gph and can push her along a 6 without any support of her sails. With duel filters and 200 gallons of fuel in separate tanks you are able to have the ability to stagger fill ups for fuel source redundancy. The strength and quality of her mechanicals are further evidenced by her dripless shaft seals and Gracco water strainers

 Electrical and Electronics:
For AC power at dock she uses standard 30 amp connections and when cruising she is equipped with a Heart Interface 2000 watt inverter combined with a 100 amp charger to keep her 5 AGM batteries topped up. Her electronics are set up for redundancy and expedition cruising with a Raymarine /Navionics system, a Lowrance Radar and plotter, and a Garmin GPS 492. She is capable of both short and long range communications with a package that includes a Standard Horizon Guest GX 1255s for short range and for long range she combines an Icom IC-710 Shortwave VHF, Icom M0710 HF Marine Transceiver with an Icom AT 130 Antenna Tuner On long passages you will enjoy the benefits of a Raymarine autopilot (ST6000 Plus) when motoring and an AutoHelm self-steering Vane to reduce power consumption when sailing.

 Notes and Extras:
If you are a knowledgeable sailor looking for a strong well-built and equipped expedition capable sailboat that doe not skimp on comforts at a great price Rain may be the answer for your next adventure.
