Interior:

The spacious galley and salon allows for large gatherings before and after your work or adventures. The diesel galley stove keeps you cozy and keeps the kettle warm for a cup of coffee any time of day. Two forward cabins sleep 4-6 people. Additional berthing in the engine room and the pilot house rounds out this floating lodge. There is a large cooler and freezer for storing your harvest or provisions.

On Deck:

The main boom has a hydraulic winch for the ease of launching and storing skiffs. Walk around decks allow for easy access to smaller vessels on 3 sides of the boat. The lower profile rails enhance the access. You could have 3- skiffs tied along side with room to spare. your hunting or fishing guests of all ages will find the ease and stability of a 20 foot wide base camp comfortable. The large aft overhang provides for covered deck space.

Engine and Mechanical:

If a engineer designs the vessel be sure you will have access to your equipment. Stand up and walk around your Detroit diesel mains. The engines have a fresh head overhaul with less than 100 hours. The current owner has meticulously maintained the steel, recently cleaning and epoxy coating engine room steel. With 3500 gallons of diesel you can wile away your days on anchor eating dungeness crab or harvesting wild game.

Electrical and Electronics:

Chester B was designed to be a remote machine shop so it has power to spare. The raised pilot house gives commanding views out over the raised bow. The helm is equipped with a full suite of modern electronics The comfort of 47 tons of steel under you assures a peace of mind.

Notes and Extras:

Dave Ellis is a long time machinist in Peterburg Alaska. He designed and built the Chester B to be a remote machine shop to service logging camps and remote construction sites. The plating is 1/4" galvanized steel. The 2023 survey remarks regarding plate say "Ultra sound test show 8.3 to 8.1 mm thickness on bottom plating and 6.6 mm on sides and 7.4 mm on stern this indicates little to no loss in steel plating was found." The Cabin is constructed of Aluminum and bolted to the steel hull. The original paint is failing and this need to be addressed. The Detroit 671 main engines are well cared for and a backbone in the marine industrial application. The Unique features of this vessel appeal to the need for remote work for extended periods of time.
