There are a lot of advantages to operating a catamaran, especially if you are taking out lots of people for a day or more of fishing and exploring. Katilak is a very unique, very usable boat with a whole lot of space both inside and outside. Catamarans are known for having a lot of benefits over mono hull craft.. One of which is less rolling movement both at anchor and at cruising speed. This is great for taking out passengers who have undeveloped sea legs and may be susceptible to queasiness. With updated interior and exterior, Katilak is a great investment that will provide you happiness and usefulness for decades to come.
Interior: | |
Katilak has a two-story interior that is perfectly set up for sightseeing, cruising, fishing ... or some might even utilize her as a liveaboard. Enter the lower deck main passenger cabin through a sliding, lockable weathertight door. Immediately to starboard is a cushioned settee that fits at least three adults comfortably for the ride to and from your destination. Each of the arms has a beverage holder. Large storage compartments below the cushions provide storage for food items or extra gear or clothes. At night this settee converts to a berth for one. Beyond the settee is a petite galley with storage, a large stainless steel sink and a bit of counterspace. in the bow are located four single berths for those overnight stays. The port side of Katilak has a head with a Jabsco electric commode located conveniently next to the cockpit door. Two water tanks hold a total of 90 gallons to serve the head and galley sink, as well as six gallons of hot water. Beyond the head is a nice raised dinette for four adults. Each bench seat has a large storage compartment beneath it. On the other side of the dinette is an additional forward-facing bench seat. In all, Katilak sleeps six adults quite comfortably. Marine carpeting on the walls keeps the interior cosy and nicely muffles the engine noise so you can have a decent conversation while underway. The two large windows on port and starboard both are screened and slide open to let in fresh air. Two fans mounted inside the cabin also help with air circulation so the interior never has that stuffy feeling. Up the ladder from the cockpit is the flybridge/main helm cabin. An L-shaped settee is situated in the starboard corned behind the captain's cushioned helm chair. This area has an absolutely excellent view, similar to that of a Tugboat. In a cubby forward, there is plenty of storage or it could be converted to a single berth compartment. This cabin has two sliding windows which let in fresh air. During the cooler outings, both cabins are warmed nicely by a forced air diesel furnace and hydronic engine heat, Espar and Heather Craft.
On Deck: | |

The deck on Katilak is huge and perfectly designed for an active day at the fishing grounds for a party of folks. Katilak has a full walk-around deck and the bow is easy to access by way of the side decks. There is standing room for several adults in the bow and railing adds stability while looking at wildlife or when a big fish is tugging at your line. Katilak's port side cockpit helm is within easy conversation distance if fishing off the aft deck so the captain can really stay where the action is. In a flash, you can get a great bird's eye view from here on what is going on with your guests and surroundings.
