REDUCED TO $315,000! Welcome aboard your unique floating remote lodge, designed and built by a skilled machinist. This one-of-a-kind vessel features twin diesel engines, 1700 gallons of water capacity, and a 20-kilowatt diesel generator, allowing you to escape for extended periods. The hull is designed to go dry on the beach if necessary. Imagine using it as a remote research camp, kayak or fishing lodge, survey and engineering base, wildlife eco-lodge, or a base for your mariculture site designed to be a remote machine shop so it has power to spare. The possibilities are endless.
Interior: | |
The spacious galley and salon allows for large gatherings before and after your work or adventures. The diesel galley stove keeps you cozy and keeps the kettle warm for a cup of coffee any time of day. Two forward cabins sleep 4-6 people. Additional berthing in the engine room and the pilot house rounds out this floating lodge. There is a large cooler and freezer for storing your harvest or provisions.
On Deck: | |
The main boom is equipped with a hydraulic winch, making it easy to launch and store skiffs. The walk-around decks provide convenient access to smaller vessels from three sides of the boat. Lower profile rails further enhance this accessibility. You can tie up to three skiffs alongside with plenty of room to spare. Guests of all ages will appreciate the comfort and stability of the 20-foot-wide base camp. Additionally, the large aft overhang offers covered deck space.
Engine and Mechanical:
If a engineer designs the vessel, be sure you will have access to your equipment. Stand up and walk around your Detroit diesel mains. The engines have a fresh head overhaul with less than 100 hours. The current owner has meticulously maintained the steel, recently cleaning and epoxy coating engine room steel. With 3500 gallons of diesel you can wile away your days on anchor eating dungeness crab or harvesting wild game.
Electrical and Electronics:
Chester B was designed to be a remote machine shop so it has power to spare. The raised pilot house gives commanding views out over the raised bow. The helm is equipped with a full suite of modern electronics including Furuno and Garmin brands. The comfort of 47 tons of steel under you assures a peace of mind.
Notes and Extras: | |
Dave Ellis is a long time machinist in Petersburg, Alaska. He designed and built the Chester B to be a remote machine shop to service logging camps and remote construction sites. The plating is 1/4" galvanized steel. The 2023 survey remarks regarding plate say "Ultra sound test show 8.3 to 8.1 mm thickness on bottom plating and 6.6 mm on sides and 7.4 mm on stern this indicates little to no loss in steel plating was found." The Cabin is constructed of Aluminum and bolted to the steel hull. The original paint is failing and this need to be addressed. The Detroit 671 main engines are well cared for and a backbone in the marine industrial application. The Unique features of this vessel appeal to the need for remote work for extended periods of time.
